Asparagus is generally used in genito-urinary complaints such as seminal weakness, impotence, spermatorrhoea, and leucorrhoea. Commonly prescribed for gastrointestinal disorders like bilious dyspepsia, flatulence, diarrhea, and dysentery. Also used in pulmonary complaints. A medicated oil is used in rheumatism, diseases of the joints, stiff neck, hemiplegia, and other nervous complaints. Another such oil or paste prepared from the juice of Asparagusin sesamum oil, lac decoction, whey, and milk is a useful application against chronic gonorrhea and other ailments of urinary organs when applied to the pubic region. Juice of the root taken with milk is also useful in gonorrhea. The root is boiled in milk and the milk is administered to relieve bilious dyspepsia and diarrhea and to promote appetite. Healthy and more white roots are good for use and their quality is said to be retained for four years. A preserve (murabba) is also made which is used as a tonic and aphrodisiac.
